This type of the Free Accounting installation is for advanced users or users who already have MSDE or MSSQL installed on their network.
Please refer to the Free Accounting Installation topic to find out how to start the Free Accounting installation.
There are the following options in the Free Accounting Custom Installation:
Free Accounting Custom Installation. Server Installation:
- Select Install Database Engine (MSDE) from parts of the Free Accounting application to install:
- Press the Next button.
- On the next Free Accounting Installation wizard page select one of the following options:
- Install Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine (MSDE) - you choose this option if you do not have SQL Server installed. The Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) will be installed on your computer and will be used as a server.
- Connect to existing SQL Server or Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine - you choose this option if you already have SQL Server installed. You will have to specify the path to the server in the next step.
- Press the Next button.
- On the next Free Accounting Installation wizard page provide the following information:
- SQL Server Name - the name of the server where you want your database to be created or updated if you installed the database previously (if you have chosen Connect to existing SQL Server) or the name of the server that will be created with MSDE installation (if you have chosen Install MSDE). Do not change your computer's name.
- Database Name - by default the Free Accounting installation wizard gives the name to the database of Free Accounting. You can change the name if you want.
- Login - login name that you will use to connect to the database. The default login is sa.
- Password - the password that you will use to connect to the database. The default password is sa.
Press the Next button.
- Press the Next button.
- Press the Next button to proceed with the Free Accounting installation.
- Press the Ok button when you get an SQL Server Service Control Manager Utility message.
- Press Finish button when you will see the Free Accounting Installation successfully finished screen.
Free Accounting Custom Installation. Workstation Installation:
- Select Install Application Files from parts of the Free Accounting application to install:
- On the next Free Accounting installation wizard page specify the following information:
- SQL Server Name - the name of the server you are connecting to.
- Database Name - the database name on the server you are connecting to.
- Press the Next button.
- Specify the folder to install Free Accounting to. To install Free Accounting to a different folder, either type in a new path, or click the Change button to browse for an existing folder.
- Press the Next button.
- Select a Free Accounting shortcut folder. To use a different folder, either type in a new path, or click the Change button to browse for an existing folder
- Press the Next button.
- Press the Next button to proceed with the Free Accounting installation.
- Press the Finish button when you see the Free Accounting Installation successfully finished screen.
Free Accounting Custom Installation. Server and Workstation Installation:
- Select Install Database Engine (MSDE) and Install Application Files from parts of the Free Accounting application to install:
- On the next wizard page select one of the following options:
- Install Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine - you choose this option if you do not have SQL Server installed. The Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) will be installed on your computer and will be used as a server.
