Units of Measure List
The Units of Measure is how the inventory is bought, stocked, stored and sold. The units of measure of an item depend on its type, how it was made, and how it is packaged. Free Accounting can automatically convert units of measure if they belong to the same scale.

To view the Units of Measure select Lists / Units of Measure from the Main Menu or press on the Commands Panel and select Units of Measure in the Navigation Pane.

The following scales are available:
    Units - Each, Pair, Pack, Case and Roll (not always convertible).
    Weight - Pounds, Ounces, Kilo's.
    Volume -Cubic Feet, Inches and Meters.
    Liquid - Gallon, Ounces, Liters.
    Count - Each, Pair, Dozen (always convertible).
    Linear - Inches, Feet, Meters.

Use the following steps to set up a Unit of Measure:
  1. Select Lists / Units of Measure from the Main Menu or from the Navigation Pane.
  2. Make right click in the Preview Pane and select Add.
  3. Enter the required information into the following fields. After saving, this information can be edited by right clicking in the Preview Pane and selecting Edit or just by double clicking on the line.
  4. Press the Ok button.


Code - Each unit of measure requires an ID or two-letter abbreviation code.
Measuring Unit - The measuring unit field contains the description. Example: Case, Each, Pack, etc.
Type - This is the scale to which the unit of measure belongs. Click in the field to get the drop-down list and select the Type.

Use Search function to look up some definite record in the list.
